handmade linocut & woodblock prints by Maurice de Rooij

Les Reliefs, the printmaking practice of Dutch artist Maurice de Rooij, specializes in linocut and woodblock prints. Maurice draws inspiration from European mountain ranges (Alps, Jura, Vosges). He researches these places through sketching, hiking, and writing.

In this video I am printing my woodcut 'Refuge' from two linden blocks. The video illustrates how two colour layers are combined in one print.

At Les Reliefs prints, sustainability is paramount. Working with a sustainable printing process, prints are made with French FSC-certified paper on a traditional etching press. Used inks are non-toxic, soy and oil-based inks.
Maurice strives to make his whole practice as plastic-free as possible. Your prints and postcards are securely wrapped and shipped in a robust, plastic-free package.
